Chocolate is the next craft beer or specialty coffee, and I want to show you why. In honor of Mother’s Day, I’m hosting this special tasting at West Elm: We’ll try several small-batch chocolate bars from my favorite bean-to-bar makers in the world, and I’ll tell you the bizarre and hilarious stories behind these bars as well as how chocolate is made and why bean to bar is so special. We’ll sip cacao tea as we chat, and you’ll take home the recipe, a sneak peek from my book, Bean-to-Bar Chocolate: America’s Craft Chocolate Revolution, coming out from Storey Publishing in September. Come taste some of the best chocolate in the world with me!

About Me: I’m a food writer and chocolate enthusiast, and my book, Bean-to-Bar Chocolate: America’s Craft Revolution, is coming out in September 2017. My blog Chocolate Noise was a 2016 Saveur Blog Awards finalist, and my work has been published in The New York Times, Slate, Zagat, Food & Wine, and Modern Farmer, among other places. I offer private chocolate tasting classes, host Underground Chocolate Salons at shops across the country, and am a judge at chocolate competitions, including the International Chocolate Awards. Currently based in Brooklyn, I’ve written extensively about the food scenes in both New York City and Austin, Texas.
