Where to Find Craft Chocolate in Houston, Texas (77018)
As a native Texan myself, I know it can be hard to find good bean-to-bar chocolate in your hometown. When my stash ran low, I often had to order it online. But there are a few reliable places in Houston with great selections. I’m looking forward to hearing what you find!
Lolli & Pops
I know, I know: This store is a chainand it’s in a mall, but it really does have a good selection. Check out this candy store for its sweet selection of chocolates from Blanxart, Askinosie, Dick Taylor, and more.
Boomtown Coffee
This hip coffee shop also sells locally made craft chocolate from Tejas Chocolate. Try their Papua New Guinea single-origin bar for an especially smoky flavor.
242 W 19th St, Houston, TX 77008
Whole Foods
Your local Whole Foods also boasts a few bean-to-bar brands in their chocolate aisle, namely Raaka, Theo, and TCHO. They also sometimes have small local makers, so keep your eyes peeled.
701 Waugh Dr, Houston, TX 77019
Central Market
I love the chocolate aisle here: Central Market has one of the best selections in Texas. Look for international makers like Michel Cluizel and Marou as well as tiny American brands like K’ul Chocolate.
3815 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77027
Tejas Chocolate Craftory
This is a bit farther than any of the locales I recommended above, but it’s worth a visit: They smoke Texas barbecue and make chocolate from scratch on site (here’s my story about it for The New York Times), and you’ll leave happy — and with a full belly.
